About

Essco Calibration Laboratory was founded in 1961 and purchased by Walsh Engineering Services, Inc., in 1974.

Over the past four decades, the Walsh family has grown Essco from five people to more than 70. Today, we operate out of a modern 27,200 square foot facility in Chelmsford, Mass., that features four environmentally controlled labs. Between our full-service calibration laboratories and onsite work at client facilities, we complete 105,000+ electronic, mechanical and dimensional calibrations a year.

New England’s largest and most diverse calibration and repair laboratory, we service about 2,500 businesses throughout the United States and abroad.

We give clients the confidence that their equipment is taking accurate measurements and can stand up to any inspectional or auditing process. And we consistently deliver what we promise, according to schedule.

We serve a wide range of industries can calibrate or repair instruments across all major disciplines. Furthermore, we offer a fast turnaround on most calibration services (including overnight and four-day service) and can schedule onsite service.

An Experienced Team

The Essco team comprises more than 60 professionals, including:

  • 40+ metrologists (staffed over two full shifts)
  • Six customer service representatives
  • Equipment-handling specialists who operate our five delivery vans

We maintain our technical competence with training from the National Institute of Standards and Technology, American Society for Quality, National Conference of Standards Laboratories International, Fluke, Agilent, Ruska, Mitutoyo, National Instruments, DHI and other industry leaders of calibration and laboratory standards.

Quality of Services

The Essco quality system is accredited to ISO/IEC 17025:2005. The management system requirements in ISO/IEC 17025:2005 (sec. 4) are written pertinent to laboratory operations and meet the principles of ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management Systems Requirements. Essco meets the technical competence and management system requirements necessary to consistently deliver technically valid test results and calibrations.
