We have an opening for a Sales Assistant in our Chelmsford, MA, laboratory. This is a unique opportunity to be part of our dynamic sales department in a growing technology service industry. Essco provides an opportunity to advance your career working in a strong team environment.

The successful candidate will work with Sales to provide quotes for new customers and also re-quotes for existing customers. They should be adept at handling incoming sales calls and providing necessary information regarding services and or quotations and helping the Account Executives set up new accounts, researching specs and capabilities for equipment, and preparing sales literature.

Sales Assistant reports to the Sales Team Lead and is expected to work within the scope of their training, education, experience, and skills to accomplish assigned tasks by supporting the Sales Team through various tasks to satisfy customer requirements. The successful candidate may advance to a full-time Sales position.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Provide quotes for new customers’ instruments and for re-quotes of existing accounts.

  • Partner with the Sales Team to set up new accounts

  • Update CRM and enterprise databases with current information and set reminders for the Sales Team.

  • Make monthly calls to customers regarding instruments due for recalibration and discover additional inventory requiring service.

  • Partner with technical personnel to research specifications and required capabilities for instruments that are not in our system to develop quotes.

  • Make outgoing sales calls to prospects outside of the New England area.

  • Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment. Must include Excel, SharePoint, and Teams and demonstrated skills in database management and record keeping.

  • Strong and professional communication skills – listening, written, verbal, and presentation.

  • Aptitude to manage numerous requests and time demands concurrently while achieving production goals from assigned territory or set of accounts.

  • Must be self-motivated and persistent with a diligent work ethic.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills include active listening, teamwork, dependability, motivation, flexibility, patience, and empathy.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

  • Work according to deadlines while continuing to meet standards

  • Analysis, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills to review systems, find flaws and pose solutions.

  • Experience using enterprise software.

  • Excellent organizational skills and the demonstrated ability to prioritize and accomplish goals.

Education and Experience:

  • Associate degree or relevant experience

  • One to Three years of experience in sales.

  • Experience in calibration or technical/science field preferred.

  • Experience using any CRM software Preferred.

Physical Demands:

  • Communicate effectively (talk, hear).

  • Sit, stand and walk.

  • Use hands and fingers to handle or feel and manipulate keys on a keyboard.

  • Reach with arms and hands.

  • Moderate to heavy lifting up to 50 lbs.

  • Vision abilities required in this job include close vision requiring focusing eyes on a nearby object for prolonged periods.

Work Environment:

  • Professional office environment.

  • Routinely use office equipment, including computers, copiers, and phones.

  • Exposure to moving mechanical parts, pressurized cylinders, chemicals, and high-voltage power.

  • Noise level is usually quiet to moderate.
